Yongsan Railroad Hospital Site Development Accelerates... Reborn as a Residential Complex
The Yongsan Railroad Hospital Site Development Project, which is receiving high attention alongside the Yongsan History and Culture Renaissance Special Zone specialization project, is gaining momentum as it enters the main track.
According to HDC Hyundai Development Company on the 1st, the Yongsan Railroad Hospital Site Development Project was designated as a special planning district for the Yongsan Railroad Hospital site and a detailed development plan was established at the 9th Urban Architecture Joint Committee of Seoul City on the 26th of last month.
Subsequently, on the 28th, HDC I-Park No.1 Trust Management Real Estate Investment Company, a real estate investment company of HDC Hyundai Development Company, received business approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the Yongsan Railroad Hospital Site Development Project and officially launched the project.
The Yongsan Railroad Hospital Site Development Project involves developing a 10,948㎡ site located at 65-154 Hangang-ro 3-ga, Yongsan-gu, within the Yongsan district unit planning area. The main building of the Yongsan Railroad Hospital on the site will be remodeled into the Yongsan History Museum to continue Yongsan’s heritage, and a residential-commercial complex building with 685 units ranging from six basement floors to a maximum of 34 floors above ground will be created, combining high-quality residential spaces with shopping and cultural facilities.
The Yongsan History Museum to be built on the site was designated as part of the Yongsan History and Culture Renaissance Special Zone by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in April and is being promoted as a special project to establish a downtown historical hub in Yongsan-gu. The main schedule includes remodeling work on the main building of the Yongsan Railroad Hospital, which has been underway since May, prior to the development of the residential-commercial complex, with the complex aiming to begin construction by the end of this year as subsequent administrative procedures continue.
HDC Hyundai Development Company plans to concentrate its development and operational capabilities on the Yongsan Railroad Hospital site as a held and operated asset, transforming it into a global complex cultural space where cultural experiences coexist beyond mere residential living.
An official from HDC Hyundai Development Company said, "The Yongsan Railroad Hospital Site Development Project is a meaningful project that regenerates the historically significant Yongsan Railroad Hospital into a new cultural space within the private sector, while simultaneously creating a leading town where the dynamic and global lifestyle of Yongsan coexist." He added, "Through various development projects, we will continue to breathe life into everyday spaces, maintain the urban context, revitalize neighborhoods, and grow as a town developer that enhances the value of the city."
