Changwon City Brings Valuable Ssireum-Related Artifacts to the World
Modern and Contemporary Ssireum 100-Year History Artifact Donation Movement Draws Many Ssireum Enthusiasts' Participation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam announced on the 1st that a total of 303 items were donated as a result of a nationwide donation campaign for Ssireum artifacts held for about a month starting May 3rd.
This donation campaign was organized to recognize the importance of Ssireum materials and to share their value with many people.
Ssireum athletes and citizens who love Ssireum from across the country, including Seoul, Ulsan, and the city itself, participated in the donation.
In particular, materials related to Ssireum were received, including books with addresses of nationally famous Ssireum players during the Japanese colonial period, various Ssireum photos reflecting the historical context of the time, the trophy from the 1st National Jangsa Ssireum Competition, the winning flag and trophy of Jangsa Kim Seongryul from Masan, and more.
The Masan Museum, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, will exhibit the collected materials in a special exhibition titled "Giants on the Sandpit, Cheonhajangsa."
The donated materials will be selected through a review by the museum's operation advisory committee on the 4th, and a separate donation ceremony will be held.
