HMM, Emergency Transport of COVID-19 Medical Supplies to India
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] HMM announced on the 1st that it has transported 23 TEU of medical oxygen and related medical supplies for treatment due to the spread of COVID-19 in India.
Since the 12th of last month, HMM has set the freight for medical oxygen, related medical supplies, and emergency relief goods on all vessels calling at Indian ports to 1 USD, and has pledged to prioritize container boxes and vessel space.
Starting with the transport of 5 TEU on the 16th of last month, followed by 2 TEU on the 21st, 8 TEU on the 24th, and 8 TEU on the 30th, a total of 23 TEU of oxygen medical supplies bound for India have been transported so far. HMM explained that even small volumes of cargo are transported immediately without delay.
Utilizing its global network, HMM communicates this information to sales offices worldwide and promptly proceeds with loading and transportation upon requests for shipment of oxygen, related medical supplies, and emergency relief goods.
The main medical supplies include medical oxygen, oxygen tanks, oxygen cylinders, portable oxygen generators, oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, and related equipment. In addition, all oxygen-related medical supplies for COVID-19 treatment are included.
Meanwhile, India’s daily new confirmed COVID-19 cases have reached between 200,000 and 400,000 per day. According to the Indian Ministry of Health, the current cumulative number of confirmed cases is about 28 million, with a cumulative death toll of approximately 329,100.
