Fire at Shin-Kori Nuclear Reactor Unit 4 in Ulju-gun, Ulsan... Operation Halted
At around 9:28 a.m. on the 29th, a fire broke out at Shin-Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 4 in Ulju-gun, Ulsan City. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the turbine stopped immediately after the fire, and operations have been halted for over two hours.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Saewool Nuclear Power Headquarters stated, "There have been no casualties or radioactive material leaks," and added, "The reactor is maintaining its output."
The Saewool Nuclear Power Plant estimated that the fire originated in the female device (voltage regulator) section inside the power plant's turbine room.
