KOSPI Closes Up 0.7% on Net Buying by Foreigners and Institutions
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI closed higher as foreign investors and institutions continued their net buying.
On the 28th, the KOSPI ended the day at 3,188.73, up 0.73% (23.22 points) from the previous trading day. The index started the day at 3,172.09, up 0.21% (6.58 points), and gradually increased its gains. Looking at investment trends, foreigners and institutions purchased stocks worth 140.1 billion KRW and 739 billion KRW respectively. Individuals sold stocks worth 892 billion KRW alone.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics rose 0.63% to 81,000 KRW. LG Chem (3.61%), Samsung Biologics (1.22%), Hyundai Motor (5.22%), Samsung SDI (0.63%), and Celltrion (1.67%) also increased.
The KOSDAQ index recorded 977.46, up 0.35% (3.38 points) on the day. The KOSDAQ started the day at 974.55, up 0.05% (0.47 points), and expanded its gains. In terms of investment trends, individuals and institutions bought stocks worth 77.1 billion KRW and 19.6 billion KRW respectively, while foreigners alone sold about 89.1 billion KRW worth of stocks.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Celltrion Pharm (3.45%), EcoPro BM (1.01%), Kakao Games (1.56%), and HL Biopharma (3.53%) rose. On the other hand, Celltrion Healthcare (-1.95%), Pearl Abyss (-0.17%), and Seegene (-0.56%) declined.
