ILBio Signs Patent Transfer Agreement with Chungnam National University for Cancer Treatment Development Using Tuberculosis Bacteria Proteins
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Smart optical tech company IL Science's subsidiary IL Bio announced on the 28th that it has signed a technology transfer agreement with Chungnam National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation for patented technology utilizing tuberculosis bacteria protein as a dendritic cell cancer treatment.
The patent transferred from Chungnam National University to IL Bio involves the use of the tuberculosis bacteria Rv0652 protein as an adjuvant, a substance added to enhance immune response, which can effectively inhibit tumor growth.
Dendritic cells are immune cells that are part of the mammalian immune system and process antigen substances; however, cancer patients have impaired dendritic cell function, making it difficult to induce normal anti-cancer immune functions.
This technology originated from the discovery that the protein derived from tuberculosis bacteria effectively matures dendritic cells. Utilizing this as an adjuvant forms the principle for developing dendritic cell cancer treatments.
