Gyeongbuk Province Holds 2040 Comprehensive Plan Public Hearing... 9 Major Projects for Industry, People, and Space
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gyeongsangbuk-do will hold a public hearing on the 'Gyeongbuk Province Comprehensive Plan for 2040' at 2 p.m. on the 28th at the Hwabaekdang Hall of the provincial government office, with about 100 participants including planning and management directors from 23 cities and counties.
This public hearing is a venue to collect opinions from residents and others in order to concretize the 5th National Comprehensive Plan established in December 2019 based on the Framework Act on National Land, and to establish guidelines for subordinate plans such as city and county plans at the Gyeongbuk provincial level.
This plan was prepared under the responsibility research of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Research Institute by collecting proposals for new planning tasks by department, city and county, and research support institutions within the province, holding touring discussions in 23 cities and counties (August to November 2020), and conducting resident surveys (November).
After this public hearing, Gyeongsangbuk-do plans to receive and reflect additional opinions until the 4th of next month, then hold a final report meeting and go through the Urban Planning Committee review, and request final approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in July.
The 2040 Gyeongsangbuk-do vision is set as four pillars: ▲Balanced development region where everyone lives well without discrimination ▲Smart industry leading region driving future growth ▲Distinguished global culture and tourism hub ▲Transportation and logistics network hub connecting to the world.
In addition, the specific new strategic projects are organized into a 3×3 strategy according to Industry (Digital + Green), People (Happiness + Safety), and Space (Territorial Expansion + Pioneering).
The industrial sector includes Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport, Gyeongbuk New Technology Revolution, and Climate Crisis Overcoming; the people sector includes All Life Happiness, Culture and Tourism, and Infectious Disease Response; the space sector includes Arctic Route Frontier, Korean Peninsula Unification, and New Space Revolution.
