Local Autonomy Human Resources Development Institute Holds Korea-China Seminar Online... Exploring 'Sustainable Development' in Post-Corona Era
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Scholars from Korea and China, along with local government officials, will gather to explore solutions for economic recovery and sustainable development in the post-COVID era.
On the 26th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Local Autonomy Human Resources Development Institute announced that, in co-hosting with the School of Continuing Education at Tsinghua University, the "15th Korea-China Seminar" will be held online from 10 a.m. on the 27th.
The Korea-China Seminar has been held annually since 2008, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for exchange and cooperation with the School of Continuing Education at Tsinghua University. It selects common themes related to local governments and is conducted alternately in both countries.
This seminar will be held under the theme "Post-COVID Era: Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development," consisting of three sessions: ▲ Developmental improvement plans for cooperative governance between central and local governments ▲ Sustainable growth through digital infrastructure construction ▲ Promotion of strengthened Korea-China cooperation and diversification of exchanges.
Chinese participants attending the seminar include Liu Zhen, Dean of the School of Continuing Education at Tsinghua University; Zhu Xufeng, Vice Dean of the School of Public Administration at Tsinghua University; and Li Tianguo, Research Fellow at the Asia-Pacific World Strategy Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. They are experts in governance, digital fields, and international exchange. From Korea, participants include Professor Park Soon-ae of Seoul National University (President of the Korean Association for Public Administration), Seo Boram, Public Data Policy Officer at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Yoo Bok-geun, Minister at the Korean Embassy in China, and Hong Chang-pyo, Head of the China Regional Headquarters at KOTRA, along with other experts and local government officials.
This year is considered especially important for local governments to overcome the economic and social crises caused by COVID-19 and to prepare for the post-pandemic era. The Local Autonomy Human Resources Development Institute expects this seminar to be an opportunity to share policies for economic recovery and sustainable development between the two countries and to explore cooperation methods across various fields. Since public officials who implement policies will attend, a variety of opinions reflecting on-the-ground situations are anticipated.
