According to global market research firm Counterpoint Research on the 23rd, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra ranked 5th in sales among individual smartphone models worldwide in the first quarter of this year. This is the highest performance among all Android phones.
The other Galaxy S21 series models also made it into the top 10. The standard Galaxy S21 ranked 7th, and the Galaxy S21 Plus ranked 9th. Although none of the three models ranked within the top 10 in global smartphone sales volume, their status as high-priced, high-margin devices was reflected.
The strong performance of the Galaxy S21 series is analyzed to be due to the pent-up effect, where suppressed demand rapidly revived. As the global economy showed signs of recovery, high-priced smartphone devices also received a positive spillover effect.
However, it was insufficient to break down the solid dominance of the iPhone. Apple's latest device, the iPhone 12 series, occupied 6 out of the top 10 spots. In particular, the previous model, the iPhone 11, ranked 4th, maintaining a leading position for a long time.
Excluding Samsung Electronics and Apple, the only model to make it into the top 10 highest sales smartphones was Huawei's Mate 40 Pro, which ranked 8th.
