Mayor Lee emphasized the importance of actively responding to the changed environment as life before and after COVID-19 has changed due to the impact of the pandemic, and stressed the necessity of inclusion and convergence in the great transformation of life and city for Pohang's next 100 years.
He held a Q&A session with the students and faculty members of the Shinjungnyeon Officer School who attended the lecture regarding the city's administrative direction and local issues, focusing on communication by providing detailed explanations on major matters and listening to citizens' difficulties.
The mayor said, "We are implementing various customized welfare policies such as expanding lifelong education programs, strengthening elderly care services, increasing senior job opportunities, and operating a senior welfare policy team," and urged, "As we enter the era of 100 years of age, please fulfill your role as spiritual leaders of the local community while leading a vibrant old age."

Meanwhile, the Shinjungnyeon Officer School is the nation's first differentiated lifelong education center for seniors, breaking away from the existing framework of applying for courses by subject. It opened its first term at the end of February 2014 and has graduated 358 students up to the fifth term, with 181 students currently enrolled from the sixth to the eighth terms.
