11 Officers Including Nigerian Army Chief of Staff Die in Plane Crash
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Nigerian Army Chief of Staff Major General Ibrahim Attahiru died in a plane crash on the 21st (local time), according to AFP and other news agencies.
General Attahiru was involved in the accident while returning to the capital Abuja after visiting Kaduna State in central Nigeria. Ten officers who were on the plane with him also lost their lives.
The exact cause of the accident and other specific details have not yet been announced. AFP cited a military statement reporting that the accident occurred while the plane was landing at Kaduna International Airport in bad weather.

General Attahiru was appointed in January. He was once a field commander who led the war against the Islamic extremist armed group Boko Haram.
