Eunpyeong-gu Submits 67.2 Billion KRW Second Supplementary Budget Proposal to Council

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) has prepared a second supplementary budget totaling 67.2 billion KRW and submitted it to the district council on the 20th.
This supplementary budget boldly reorganizes various event and project budgets that could not be carried out due to COVID-19, focusing on strengthening the infectious disease response system, establishing employment safety nets, and expanding investment in life-oriented SOC to actively respond to the recovery of the stagnant local economy.
Additionally, it reflects the budget necessary for improving residents' welfare and promoting major district administration projects in the second half of the year, aiming to enhance the efficiency of financial management.
First, to support the recovery of the local economy by strengthening the social safety net through the expansion of job projects, a total of 5.6 billion KRW will be invested, including 3.1 billion KRW for Eunpyeong-type local quarantine jobs, 1.3 billion KRW for resource managers improving the quality of recyclables, 700 million KRW for Seoul citizens' safe jobs, and 300 million KRW for youth challenge support projects. This will provide jobs to about 970 people and support employment, thereby revitalizing local employment.
Also, to improve residents' quality of life and drive regional development, investment in essential infrastructure will be expanded, with a total of 18.9 billion KRW allocated for projects such as 8.3 billion KRW for the construction of a complex cultural facility on the site of the registry office, 3.5 billion KRW for maintenance of aging roads and sewage infrastructure, 1 billion KRW for road construction from Bulgwang Middle School to Pokpo-dong, 700 million KRW for the Eungam Information Library life SOC complex project, 700 million KRW for trail maintenance at Bongsan and Aengbongsan, 600 million KRW for the construction of Eunpyeong Literature Hall, 600 million KRW for Jichuk Bridge repair, and 400 million KRW for Eunpyeong Tunnel soundproofing improvement. In particular, through the promotion of life SOC, the plan is to enhance residents' convenience in daily life.
Along with this, to improve residents' welfare, a total of 17 billion KRW has been allocated to social welfare sectors, including 7.3 billion KRW for livelihood and housing benefits, 2.1 billion KRW for disability activity assistance, 2.4 billion KRW for infant care fees, 3 billion KRW for childcare staff salaries and treatment improvement support, and 400 million KRW for home childcare allowance support.
To protect residents' health and respond to the spread of COVID-19, a total of 7.3 billion KRW has been allocated, including 5.6 billion KRW for disaster and emergency contingency funds to respond quickly to disaster situations such as COVID-19, 500 million KRW for infertility treatment expenses, 300 million KRW for maternal and newborn health care support, 400 million KRW for COVID-19 living support expenses, 200 million KRW for operation of temporary COVID-19 screening clinics, and 100 million KRW for COVID-19 testing and mobile specimen collection teams, contributing to the creation of a healthy and safe society.
Finally, to promote major projects in the second half of the year, a total of 2.5 billion KRW has been allocated, including 400 million KRW to support the installation of virtual reality sports rooms in elementary schools, 400 million KRW to extend public library opening hours, 300 million KRW for the operation of Bulgwangcheon Media Center, and 100 million KRW to improve working conditions for workers in multi-family housing.
