Hope Work Support Project Assigns 14 Boarding and Alighting Assistants for Rural Bus Services
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that it is promoting the ‘Rural Bus Boarding and Alighting Assistant Project’ from May to the end of August to improve public transportation services and provide transportation convenience.
This project deployed transfer assistants to minimize confusion caused by the operation of the transfer-type village circulation bus, which was first implemented last year.
Since then, resident service satisfaction has increased, and through this Hope Work Support Project, the county placed 14 boarding and alighting assistants on rural buses.
Resident Lee from Goje-myeon said, “I used to avoid using public transportation because it was difficult to get on and off the bus carrying heavy luggage, but now it has become very convenient,” and added, “I hope that projects for transportation-vulnerable people will continue to be promoted in the future.”
Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, said, “We will do our best to discover various policies and projects and provide services to facilitate the use of rural buses, the only public transportation means for transportation-vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled.”
