Pohang City Provides Free Volume-Based Waste Bags for 2 Years to New Residents
"Hope to Restore Population to 510,000" ... New 75L Standard for Volume-Based Waste Bags Established
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Pohang City announced on June 1 that once the 'Waste Management Ordinance' is revised and promulgated, it will give momentum to improving the working conditions of environmental management workers and promoting the Pohang Love Address Registration Campaign.
The ordinance revision includes adding new eligible households for free provision of volume-based waste bags and establishing a new 75L volume-based waste bag size.
The city will provide volume-based waste bags free of charge for two years to households that have transferred their address to Pohang City after residing in other regions for more than one year. For a household of four, this means receiving a total of 96 bags over two years, based on four 20L bags per month.
This is planned for households that moved in from January 1, 2021, to the end of December 2022, reflecting the city's earnest desire to maintain its population of 510,000.
Additionally, the introduction of the 75L volume-based waste bag size aims to reduce the use of the existing 100L bags, encourage proper waste separation, protect the safety of environmental management workers, and improve their working conditions.
