Jangseong-gun Selected for Drainage Improvement Project in Sinheung District... Secures 6 Billion KRW in National Funding
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 20th that Bukil-myeon Sinheung District has been selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ ‘Drainage Improvement Project,’ securing 6 billion KRW in national funding.
The area around Sinheung-ri, Bukil-myeon, selected as the project target district, has been a region that has suffered frequent flooding damage during heavy summer rains.
Governor Yoo Doo-seok instructed all departments of the county office last year to actively seek national projects to promptly resolve local issues.
The county selected the ‘Bukil-myeon Sinheung District Drainage Improvement Project’ as one of the new projects through internal meetings and reporting sessions and formally applied for it to the Agricultural Policy Division of Jeollanam-do.
In January, the Korea Rural Community Corporation visited the Sinheung District site to investigate the necessity of the project, and in March, county officials visited the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to repeatedly request the selection of the project target area.
As a result, Sinheung District in Bukil-myeon was selected as a basic survey target for the drainage improvement project, successfully securing 6 billion KRW in national funding.
The county plans to install one drainage pump station and two drainage gates, expand drainage channels by approximately 4.2 km, and raise the soil in the 30-hectare flood zone to prevent flood damage.
The project is currently at the planning stage, with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs commissioning the Korea Rural Community Corporation (Jeonnam Headquarters) to conduct the basic survey and plan development process.
After selecting the start district and establishing and approving the implementation plan, construction is expected to begin by the end of next year.
