View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Thursday the 20th, the entire country will be cloudy, with rain expected in Jeju Island and the Gyeongnam region. The rain will expand nationwide from the afternoon.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, due to a low-pressure system moving northeast near Shanghai, China, rain will begin in the southern regions and Chungcheong area from the morning and continue until tomorrow. As of 7 a.m., rain is falling in Jeju and the Jeonnam region, with some raindrops in Jeonbuk and the Gyeongnam region. Tonight, rain in the Chungnam, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions is expected to weaken and mostly stop by tomorrow afternoon.
The KMA explained, "During the morning, sporadic raindrops may fall in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Yeongseo as well," adding, "In areas where rain continues until tomorrow, visibility will be reduced and roads will be slippery, so caution is needed for facility management, safety accidents, and traffic safety."
Expected precipitation until the 21st is ▲Jeju Island (excluding northern and western parts) 20?60mm ▲Gangwon Yeongdong, Gyeongbuk region, Jeju northern and western parts 10?40mm ▲Central regions (excluding Gangwon Yeongdong), Jeolla region, Gyeongnam region, West Sea 5 Islands, Ulleungdo and Dokdo 5?30mm.
As of 6:30 a.m., heavy rain of 10?20mm per hour is falling in the mountainous areas of Jeju Island. A strong rain cloud band of about 30mm per hour is moving northeast, and the KMA issued a heavy rain advisory at 6:30 a.m. The KMA stated, "The heavy rain is expected to last for about 1?2 hours before weakening, so caution is needed to prevent rain-related damage." Thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected in Jeju Island until the afternoon.
