'Energy Voucher Program' for 700,000 Low-Income Households... Applications Open from the 21st
[Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 20th that applications and registrations for the 'Energy Voucher Program,' which supports energy costs for low-income households, will begin on the 21st.
The Energy Voucher Program subsidizes cooling and heating energy costs during the summer and winter seasons. This year, it is expected to benefit approximately 700,000 households.
The support targets households that include elderly, disabled, infants, pregnant women, patients with severe, rare, or intractable diseases, single-parent families, and youth-headed households among recipients of livelihood and medical benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act.
The support amount varies according to the number of household members: 96,500 KRW for a single-person household (7,000 KRW in summer and 89,500 KRW in winter), 136,500 KRW for a two-person household (10,000 KRW in summer and 126,500 KRW in winter), 170,500 KRW for a three-person household (15,000 KRW in summer and 155,500 KRW in winter), and 191,000 KRW for households of four or more (15,000 KRW in summer and 176,000 KRW in winter).
Foreigners who are beneficiaries under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act and are listed on the household resident registration are included as Energy Voucher household members and are eligible for support.
The summer voucher can be used from July 1 to September 30 this year, and the winter voucher from October 6 until the end of April next year. Any remaining balance from the summer voucher can also be used for the winter voucher.
