Yongsan-gu to Provide Employment Incentive of 500,000 KRW for Unemployed Youth
Online Applications Accepted from May 24 to June 25 for One Month... Support Scale 4,100 People... Support Budget Set at 2 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjanghyun) will provide employment incentives of 500,000 KRW each to unemployed youth in the area as part of a city-district cooperative livelihood measure.
The application period is from May 24 to June 25, one month.
The support target is unemployed and jobless youth (not enrolled in employment insurance) aged 19 to 34 residing in Yongsan-gu (born 1986?2002), who graduated within 2 years after their final academic degree (graduates from 2019 to 2021).
Those who exceeded the "2 years after graduation" period due to military service will have their service period (based on military service certificate) deducted when calculating the period.
University (graduate) students currently enrolled or on leave, recipients of unemployment benefits, 2020 youth job-seeking activity support recipients, and 2021 National Employment Support System participants (Type 1) are not eligible for support.
The employment incentive will be provided in the form of Yongsan Love Gift Certificates (mobile, Zero Pay). Those who wish to apply can do so through the Seoul Youth Portal. Required supporting documents include resident registration certificate, employment insurance qualification history, and final academic graduation certificate.
The district will review (verify) applications and begin distributing gift certificates sequentially from June 7. The gift certificates can be used at Zero Pay affiliated stores.
The support scale is about 4,100 people. This is estimated at about 2.4% of the total unemployed youth in Seoul (171,000) according to the Ministry of Education's employment statistics survey. The budget (2 billion KRW) is allocated from the district's contingency funds.
In addition to the employment incentive, the district is conducting various youth job projects (Youth Tomorrow Project) in diverse ways.
Main projects include job experience internship programs, employment support programs, youth job creation subsidy projects, expert training linked employment support, and public-private cooperative job creation contest projects. The district also supports youth business loans using the district job fund (12 billion KRW).
