Joo Ho-young: "Yoon Seok-yeol to Create 'Grand Unity Committee' Including Ahn Cheol-soo"
Emphasizing 'Innovation and Unity'... Pledging Mandatory Nomination Quotas for Honam, Youth, and Women
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Joo Ho-young, former floor leader of the People Power Party running for party leader, promised to launch the 'Grand Integration Committee,' a platform for opposition unification, and the 'Future Vision Committee,' which will establish the party's policy direction, as a way to achieve innovation and integration within the party.
At a press conference held at the National Assembly on the 19th, former floor leader Joo said, "In my previous declaration of candidacy, I stated that two pillars, 'innovation and integration,' are necessary for victory in the presidential election," adding, "Innovation without integration is hollow, and integration without innovation is uninspiring."
He then announced that if elected party leader, he would create the Grand Integration Committee and the Future Vision Committee. The Grand Integration Committee is an integration platform that can bring together the traditional supporters of the People Power Party as well as moderate voters. He explained, "We will open the door wide for prominent candidates outside the party, such as former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, People's Party leader Ahn Cheol-soo, and Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung, to participate in the party primary, and hold a primary election with all candidates."
He also promised to form the Future Vision Committee, centered on experts inside and outside the party, to establish the party's pledges and policy directions on nationally important policy issues.
To expand the party's base, he declared that measures to mandate nominations for candidates from Honam, youth, and women would be codified, and half of the proportional representation seats would be allocated to youth and Honam-origin candidates. He also stated that a 'Youth Party Officer System' would be operated, assigning party positions to members of the 2030 generation.
Additionally, he presented pledges including ▲ the introduction of a runoff voting system ▲ the establishment of livelihood stabilization policies for small business owners and self-employed individuals ▲ preparation of real estate measures ▲ measures for youth employment and housing stability ▲ support measures related to the 4th industrial revolution ▲ and the reorganization of the Yeouido Research Institute.
