View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Sun-gyeong] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that it will hold a wood carving exhibition by Samrim (森林) Song Mun-young, an advisor of the Korea Wood Carving Association, in the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor of the Culture and Arts Center from the 25th to the 31st.
This exhibition features 45 wood carving works, including the artist's unique technique of carving letters with a rounded knife that appear embossed due to an optical illusion, highlighting the distinctive calligraphy of both relief and intaglio carving. The content of the works consists of famous quotes that serve as life guidelines.
In the invitation message, artist Song stated, “Difficult and challenging times have always existed, and we have always overcome them wisely. I believe this too will flow away and become a memory. I am holding this exhibition to offer you a small rest.”
Song, whose hometown is Hamyang, has held over 250 exhibitions including solo, group, and international shows, and has been involved in numerous artistic activities such as serving as the chief judge and operations committee chairman for the Korea Art Judging Exhibition.

For more than 45 years, he has continued the tradition of wood carving and currently operates the Samrim Wood Carving Research Institute in Seoha-myeon, Hamyang-gun, where he trains future artists.
