The Corruption Investigation Office Conducts Search and Seizure at Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education over 'Jo Hee-yeon Special Recruitment Suspicion'
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (HOCI) conducted a search and seizure at the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education on the 18th in connection with allegations of unfair special recruitment of dismissed teachers. This case is HOCI's 'Case No. 1' and marks the first search and seizure conducted by HOCI.
Earlier, HOCI received the case regarding the allegations of unfair special recruitment of dismissed teachers involving Cho Hee-yeon, Superintendent of Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, transferred from the police, assigned the case number '2021 Gongje 1', and began a full-scale investigation.

HOCI has been focusing its investigation on whether Superintendent Cho committed illegal acts during the process of promoting special recruitment of dismissed teachers in July to August 2018. Superintendent Cho is suspected of abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights by specifically directing the relevant department to review and promote special recruitment of five dismissed teachers during this period.
