Foxconn to Form Electric Vehicle Partnership with Stellantis... Official Announcement on the 18th
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Foxconn, which is expanding its investment in the electric vehicle sector, is set to officially announce a strategic partnership for electric vehicle development with European automaker Stellantis on the 18th (local time), according to major foreign media reports on the same day.
Foxconn Chairman Liu Yangwei and Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares are expected to attend the conference call in person to reveal detailed contents of the strategic partnership. The focus is known to be on technology collaborations such as smart cockpits (driver's seat) and in-car digital services.
Stellantis is an automotive group officially launched in January this year through the merger of Italy's Fiat Chrysler and France's Peugeot Citro?n Group.
Foxconn announced a joint venture plan with Fiat Chrysler in January last year. Since then, as Fiat pursued a merger with Peugeot, the disclosure of detailed strategic partnership plans with Foxconn was somewhat delayed.
Famous as the manufacturer of the iPhone, Foxconn has recently been actively investing in the electric vehicle sector. Last year, Foxconn declared its transformation into an electric vehicle company by setting a goal to achieve a 10% share of the global electric vehicle market as early as 2025.
On the 13th, Foxconn completed final negotiations with the U.S. startup electric vehicle company Fisker for electric vehicle production. Accordingly, Foxconn plans to produce electric vehicles together with Fisker starting in 2023.

In January this year, Foxconn also jointly established a custom automobile manufacturing company with Chinese automaker Geely. Additionally, through a partnership with Chinese electric vehicle company Byton, Foxconn aims to produce electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) in 2022. In October last year, Foxconn unveiled its first electric vehicle chassis and software platform.
