Goheung County Council Reduces Temporary Sessions to Respond to COVID-19
Administrative Audit Also Postponed to November
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Goheung County Council in Jeollanam-do (Chairman Song Young-hyun) held the 297th extraordinary session for just one day on the 17th and then adjourned.
This extraordinary session was shortened from the originally scheduled four days to one day in order to focus all efforts on early containment of the local spread due to the recent serious COVID-19 situation in Goheung County. The number of executive branch attendees was also minimized to essential personnel only.
Additionally, this year's administrative audit, originally scheduled for next month, was postponed to be conducted during the 2nd regular session opening in November.
This decision was made because public officials, who are doing their best in quarantine efforts to prevent the recent COVID-19 crisis, are experiencing increased fatigue from heavy workloads, so the administrative audit was postponed to allow them to concentrate on safety and quarantine administration.
Meanwhile, during the extraordinary session, Assemblyman Ryu Je-dong made two five-minute free speeches, including one titled “Urgent Measures in Response to COVID-19 Confirmed Cases.”
