[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is promoting a purchase subsidy support project to help stabilize the production of local medicinal herb farms struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection.
On the 17th, the county announced that it is accepting applications for the "2021 Medicinal Herb Production Purchase Subsidy Support Project," which utilizes the Medicinal Herb Production Stabilization Fund, until June 4.
The applicants are farms and corporations residing in Sancheong-gun that sold medicinal herbs produced in Sancheong to cooperatives, medicinal herb processing companies, wholesalers, and retailers.
The supported items are four strategic medicinal herbs ((red) Haseuo, Doraji, Honghwa, Choseokjam) as well as peony, licorice, ginger, solomon’s seal, chamdanggui, and goji berry.
The support requirement is a cultivation area of 500㎡ or more per medicinal herb, and the support limit is up to 5 million KRW. Self-consumption and small-scale transactions between individuals are excluded from support.
In June, after on-site verification of project sites, operation committee review of the Medicinal Herb Production Stabilization Fund, and verification of supporting documents, support will be provided according to the standards for each medicinal herb. The project period is from May 2021 to April 2022.
Farms or corporations wishing to apply for the project can submit the application form and related documents through the industrial economy department of their local eup/myeon office.
Meanwhile, since 2019, the county has been continuously implementing the "Medicinal Herb Production Infrastructure Project," a support project that lays the foundation for medicinal herb production, which is the basis of the Korean traditional medicine anti-aging industry.
The Medicinal Herb Production Infrastructure Project mainly consists of "Support for Stable Production of Korean Medicinal Herbs" and "Creation of Strategic Medicinal Herb Specialized Complexes." It focuses on intensively fostering Sancheong-gun’s strategic medicinal herbs while supporting stable cultivation of other medicinal crops besides the strategic herbs.
The "Strategic Medicinal Herb Specialized Complex Creation Project" is a project to foster four items?Doraji, Haseuo, Honghwa, and Choseokjam?that are easy to process and develop products as Sancheong-gun’s strategic medicinal herbs.
The "Support Project for Stable Production of Korean Medicinal Herbs" provides subsidies for cultivating medicinal crops other than the four strategic medicinal herbs, supporting seeds (rhizomes, seedlings) and covering agricultural materials needed for medicinal herb cultivation.
Along with this, the county is steadily promoting the "Standard Packaging Material Support Project for Korean Medicinal Herbs," which enhances the marketability and reliability of Sancheong Korean medicinal herbs and reduces the financial burden on farms. This project contributes to increasing brand value and product recognition by using packaging materials with a unified design.
