Pros and Cons of Improving the Confirmation Hearing System Are Evenly Split... 'Agree' 47.9% vs 'Disagree' 45.5% [Realmeter]
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Opinions were sharply divided over the claim that the personnel hearing system needs improvement.
According to a survey conducted by Realmeter on the 14th at the request of YTN, targeting 500 men and women nationwide aged 18 and older, 47.9% responded that they "agree" with the need to improve the personnel hearing system, while 45.5% responded that they "do not agree," the results were announced on the 17th. Those who answered "not sure" accounted for 6.6%.
By region, most areas except Gwangju and Jeolla showed a similar distribution. In Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (agree 49.5% vs disagree 46.6%), Seoul (48.6% vs 45.0%), and Incheon and Gyeonggi (47.6% vs 47.3%), there was little difference, but in Gwangju and Jeolla, 68.0% responded that they "agree," significantly surpassing the 25.7% who "do not agree."
By age group, those in their 30s showed the highest agreement at 58.4%, followed by those in their 40s at 50.1%. Other age groups did not show significant differences in response distribution. However, specifically among those in their 30s, active positive responses such as "strongly agree" (37.7%) and "somewhat agree" (20.7%) exceeded the overall average of 25.7%, whereas among those in their 60s, active negative responses such as "do not agree at all" (37.1%) and "do not really agree" (20.9%) were higher than the overall average of 25.9%, showing a contrast.
Results differed by ideological inclination: 68.7% of progressives, about 7 out of 10, agreed with the claim that system improvement is necessary, while 56.9% of conservatives disagreed. Among moderates, agreement (49.0%) and disagreement (45.2%) were nearly equal.
