On the 15th, at the New Course of Suwon Golf Club in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province (par 72, 6,554 yards), during the second day of the KLPGA Tour NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship (total prize money 700 million won), she surged to the lead with a 7-under-par round (11-under-par 133 strokes). Lee Da-yeon (24, Mediheal) and An Na-rin (25) are tied for second place (10-under-par 134 strokes), while 2015 champion Lee Jung-min (29, Hanwha Q CELLS) and Kim Se-eun (23, Dohui Edgega) are tied for fourth place (8-under-par 136 strokes) in pursuit.
Starting from a tie for fourth place, two strokes behind, Park Min-ji swept up eight birdies (one bogey). After birdies on the 11th hole (par 5) and consecutive birdies on the 13th and 14th holes, she took a brief breather with a bogey on the 16th hole (par 3). Changing the momentum with a birdie on the 18th hole (par 4), she added two pairs of consecutive birdies on the 3rd-4th and 8th-9th holes in the back nine. Rising to the lead by one stroke, she secured a chance for her second win of the season and sixth career victory since last month's Nexen Saint Nine Masters win.
"I think I was able to achieve good results by sending the ball where I wanted," said Park Min-ji. "I get along well with this old course," she added, expressing her determination: "I will definitely win with calm but aggressive play in this sponsor tournament." Lee Da-yeon posted a 6-under-par round to join the competition for the championship. Lee Jung-min added 2-under-par and is chasing the leader by three strokes. This is a position where she can aim for her ninth career win after five years and two months since winning the World Ladies Championship in March 2016.
