Minister of Employment Condoles the Passing of Late Lee Seonho... "Dramatic Reduction in Industrial Accident Deaths"

View original image[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] An Kyung-duk, Minister of Employment and Labor, visited the funeral of the late Lee Seon-ho, who died while working at Pyeongtaek Port, around 7 p.m. on the 14th, and pledged to do his best to drastically reduce industrial accident fatalities.
After paying his respects, Minister An promised during a meeting with the bereaved family and the countermeasure committee, "We will thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident and strictly punish those responsible," and added, "We will establish measures to prevent similar accidents through a task force (TF) composed of related ministries including the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries."
He continued, "We will mobilize all available resources to drastically reduce industrial accident fatalities so that young workers, non-regular workers, and subcontracted workers can work in safe and healthy workplaces."
Earlier, at 10:30 a.m. on the same day, the Ministry of Employment and Labor held the 'Pyeongtaek Port Fatal Accident Related Agencies Countermeasure Meeting' to prepare measures to prevent recurrence of the accident. A TF was formed with related agencies including the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Gyeonggi Province, Pyeongtaek City, and the National Police Agency. The Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and Gyeonggi Province agreed to jointly inspect and supervise the five major ports nationwide.
