Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom Appointed, Jeon Jae-su "Strength in Cooperation, Expect Communication with Opposition" vs Jo Hae-jin "Forced Appointment Despite Criticism"
Jeon Jae-su "Accepting voluntary resignation of Minister of Oceans and Fisheries nominee, reflecting some public sentiment"
Jo Hae-jin "Forcing appointment means continuing personnel behavior judged over the past 4 years"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the morning of the 14th, following the news that President Moon Jae-in approved the appointment of Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, Jeon Jae-su, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized his expectations for the new prime minister, saying he "has strengths in cooperation and communication." On the other hand, Cho Hae-jin, a member of the People Power Party, strongly criticized the Blue House and the ruling party for pushing through the appointment despite opposition from the opposition party, stating that it "means they intend to continue the personnel practices that were judged over the past four years."

The nomination consent bill for the prime minister, which had been fiercely contested between the ruling and opposition parties, was ultimately pushed through the previous evening solely by the Democratic Party without the participation of People Power Party members, leading to criticism of a 'one-sided rush.'
Representative Jeon said, "The candidate for Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, Park Jun-young, voluntarily withdrew, and the Blue House accepted his withdrawal. Doesn't this mean the president accepted some of the public's demands?" He added, "At this point, I ask that they stop."
He then praised Prime Minister Kim, saying, "He has strengths in cooperation and communication," and expressed hope that "he will communicate more diligently with the opposition party." He also requested, "I ask the People Power Party to lend their support as well."
However, Representative Cho expressed strong dissatisfaction with the forced approval of the appointment.
Representative Cho said, "The issues with the three ministerial candidates are problems not only of those individuals but also of the president, who holds the power of appointment." He pointed out, "Despite our opposition, similar individuals have been forcibly appointed 29 times over the past four years." He added, "By continuously appointing people who lack ability and have moral flaws, work does not proceed smoothly, and government failures have accumulated, leading the public to show a red card in the April 7 by-elections."
He criticized, "At the 4th anniversary press conference, the president said he was 'awakened by a wake-up call,' yet he made the same personnel decisions again."
Representative Cho said, "Despite more than 60% of the public opposing, pushing through the appointment seems to indicate an intention to continue the personnel practices that were judged over the past four years," and warned, "I think this will further accelerate public discontent."
He demanded of Prime Minister Kim, "Now that you have been appointed, properly investigate the suspicions related to your family, correct your flawed sense of public service, and show the public a changed image."
