The ceremony was conducted simply with minimized attendance and in compliance with government quarantine guidelines such as wearing masks to prevent COVID-19 infection.
On that day, Governor Lee presented scholarship certificates to 31 student representatives (22 high school students and 9 university students) and encouraged them.
Earlier, the county accepted scholarship applications for the first half of this year starting from mid-March. About 150 applicants, including high school and university students, participated during the approximately two-week application period, and the county finally selected a total of 102 students based on priority selection criteria using the submitted documents.
The total scholarship support amount is about 160 million KRW across five categories: academic excellence (new high school and university students), welfare (high school students), and special talents (high school and university students).
Each student can receive scholarships ranging from a minimum of 200,000 KRW to a maximum of 3 million KRW.
The county plans to deposit the scholarship funds into individual accounts by the end of this month once the duplicate scholarship payment review is completed.
Governor Lee said in his congratulatory speech, “Good talents are the competitiveness of the region,” and promised, “We will do our best to provide various administrative and financial support so that more local students can receive broad scholarship benefits in the future.”
