Famous US Talk Show 'The Ellen Show' Ends After 19 Years
Ending with Season 19 at the End of Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The famous American talk show "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" (hereafter referred to as Ellen Show) will end by the end of next year. It has been 19 years since it first aired in September 2003.
According to the BBC on the 12th (local time), host DeGeneres announced that the NBC flagship program Ellen Show is scheduled to end by the end of next year. In an interview with the American entertainment magazine The Hollywood Reporter on the same day, she publicly acknowledged the end of the show, saying, "The Ellen Show is great and fun, but it is no longer a challenge."
Along with Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC) and The Late Late Show (CBS), the Ellen Show has been considered one of the three major talk shows in the United States, gaining high popularity as a must-stop place for celebrities. In Korea, Psy and BTS appeared on the show. It is a representative long-running American program that celebrated its 3,000th episode last month and has won more than 60 Emmy Awards.
The BBC reported that DeGeneres had decided to end the show early on. She explained, "I was planning to end the show after season 16, but after a request to continue for 4 more years, we agreed on 3 years." The Ellen Show’s seasons are counted on a yearly basis.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, DeGeneres informed the program team of this decision on the 11th. She said, "The last day will be very difficult, but I know the time has come," adding, "Creative people like me need to keep taking on challenges."
