Musical 'Frankenstein' Returns After 3 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The Korean original musical 'Frankenstein' will open its fourth season in three years this November at Blue Square Shinhan Card Hall.
Based on Mary Shelley's novel published in 1818, 'Frankenstein' tells the story of a man who tried to become a god, a creature who longed to be human, and two men, prompting audiences to reconsider human selfishness and the essence of life, earning great love.
'Frankenstein' won a total of nine awards at the 8th 'The Musical Awards' during its premiere in 2014, including 'Musical of the Year' and 'Original Musical of the Year.'
In the 2016 revival, it surpassed 10 billion KRW in sales within 10 weeks of opening, setting a record for the highest single-season sales. In January 2017, it signed a licensing contract with Japan's major production company Toho Production and was performed at Tokyo Nissei Theatre.
