Government Consulting on Construction and Remodeling of Public Libraries
Hwaseong Dongtan Library, Hampyeong Public Library, and Others... Consortium Formed with Experts from Various Fields
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Library Association, and the Hoseo University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation announced on the 12th that they will conduct on-site consultations for the construction of sixty-two new public libraries and renovations, including Hwaseong Dongtan Library and Hampyeong Public Library. A consortium of experts from various fields such as architecture, design, and libraries will be formed to assess planning, construction, and operational strategies. The plan aims to reduce uncertainties in scale and budget allocation while reflecting the uniqueness and diversity of each region. It will also promote integrated future-oriented public libraries that incorporate new cultural technologies and the latest trends. An official stated, “We will provide consultations focusing on practical processes, including customized space arrangements, collections, and service operations,” adding, “We will promptly respond to the difficulties faced by local governments through continuous online and offline communication via the Library Construction Planning System.”
