View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunjin Jung] LG Display announced on the 12th that its 65-inch rollable OLED TV received the Display of the Year Award from the Society for Information Display (SID), the world's most prestigious international information display society.
SID is the world's largest display society with over 6,000 members including experts, researchers, and professors in the global display industry. It holds annual events showcasing new technologies and products and presenting research papers. This year, due to the impact of COVID-19, the event will be held online from the 17th to the 21st of this month.
The Display of the Year Award is the highest honor given by SID. LG Display explained that it is awarded to the most innovative display product released in the previous year that is expected to lead the future of the display industry.
The 65-inch rollable OLED TV that won this award was launched in October last year. It is a self-emissive display that does not require a backlight, allowing the panel to be thin enough to be rolled up inside the main body. Yoon Soo-young, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LG Display, said, "LG Display will continue to research and develop various innovative and differentiated OLED technologies to create new value, expand the market, and accelerate the mainstream adoption of OLED."
