Yeongam-gun Provides Livelihood Support Funds to Unregistered Traditional Market Businesses
50 Million KRW Support for Traditional Market Stalls and Street Vendors' Livelihood Assistance
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Jeon Dong-pyeong) announced on the 11th that it will provide livelihood support funds to unregistered traditional market merchants in Yeongam-gun who are struggling due to COVID-19.
The recipients are those residing in Yeongam-gun as of the application date who operate stores within traditional markets without business registration and street vendors. Among them, street vendors who have joined the merchants' association and paid the membership fee or those confirmed on-site by the county officer as street vendors within the market area are eligible for support.
Yeongam-gun has completed identifying eligible recipients through the merchants' association and on-site surveys, and plans to accept applications at the town and township offices of the respective markets until the 17th and disburse the funds by the end of May.

Jeon Dong-pyeong, Governor of Yeongam-gun, said, "Despite decreased sales due to COVID-19, unregistered traditional market merchants who are excluded from government support or do not meet the payment criteria and are struggling to make a living will be supported with the county's own budget." He added, "We will continue to do our best to support unregistered businesses in the blind spots of COVID-19 support policies and to revitalize traditional markets."
