View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] One elementary school student tested positive for COVID-19 through a mobile polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test conducted at schools in the Seoul area. This is the first confirmed case since the pilot project began.
On the 11th, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that one student at an elementary school in Nowon-gu tested positive following a mobile PCR test conducted on the 10th.
Tests were conducted at two elementary schools that day: 219 individuals (173 students and 46 staff) at the Nowon-gu elementary school, and 159 individuals (48 students and 111 staff) at an elementary school in Geumcheon-gu. The testing rate compared to the total population was 58.1% at the Nowon-gu school and 29.9% at the Geumcheon-gu school.
One student at the Nowon-gu elementary school tested positive, and the results were communicated to the student, the school, and health authorities by 10 p.m. the previous day. The school switched to remote classes starting on the 11th. Health authorities are currently conducting an epidemiological investigation.
