"From Salamander Migration..." Unprecedented Apartment Subscription Postponement Incident
Endangered Species Massively Found at Construction Site
Subscription Halted for 'Yangsan Sasong The Sharp Decian 3rd'
An apartment complex in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, faced a sudden cancellation of its subscription schedule due to the presence of an endangered species, the Korean salamander.
On the 11th, the Korea Real Estate Board's Subscription Home announced that the subscription for the Yangsan Sasong The Sharp Desiang Phase 3 apartment, which was scheduled for that day, would not proceed because "the approval for the resident recruitment announcement has been canceled." The reason for the cancellation of approval was "discovery of an endangered species at the construction site," the Real Estate Board added.
This subscription suspension occurred after the Nakdong River Environmental Office discovered a large number of Gori Korean salamanders in ponds in Sasong New Town on the 30th of last month and requested the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to halt construction. The developer consortium of Taeyoung Construction and POSCO Construction voluntarily applied for the cancellation of the resident recruitment announcement approval, which Yangsan City approved. The companies plan to reapply for approval after securing measures such as establishing an alternative habitat for the salamanders. However, since creating an alternative habitat for the salamanders will take time, the subscription schedule is expected to be delayed by at least one month.
This apartment complex is being developed on Block B-9 of the Yangsan Sasong Residential Development District, consisting of 533 units with a net area of 84㎡ each. Built on public land, it is subject to the price ceiling system, with an average sale price set at approximately 11.87 million KRW per 3.3㎡.
Sasong New Town, where the complex is located, is attracting attention due to its proximity to Busan. Once the Yangsan Urban Railway (Nopo?Sasong?Bukjeong section), an extension of Busan Subway Line 1 scheduled for 2024, opens, it will be possible to reach Busan in just five minutes. Additionally, as it is a non-regulated area, subscription and loan restrictions are relatively relaxed, drawing interest from prospective homeowners.
