KB Kookmin Bank "Practicing ESG with Low-Carbon Cafeteria Menu on Mondays"
Operation of 'Green Monday' Composing Cafeteria Menus Mainly with Vegetarian Diets
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 10th that it will operate 'Green Monday,' a program that offers a plant-based menu every Monday in the company cafeteria to promote carbon neutrality and improve employee health.
Green Monday is inspired by a campaign proposed by Paul McCartney, a member of the British pop band The Beatles, who suggested adopting a vegetarian diet at least one day a week for environmental reasons.
Accordingly, the cafeteria menu corner at KB Yeouido New Building headquarters will offer a low-carbon diet every Monday, featuring salads primarily composed of plant-based foods. A low-carbon diet consists of plant-based foods such as vegetables and fruits, which can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to animal-based diets.

A KB Kookmin Bank official stated, “By choosing a plant-based diet instead of meat, which increases the Earth's greenhouse gas emissions, we can protect our health while also contributing to climate change mitigation,” adding, “We hope this small daily practice will be a good opportunity to raise awareness about environmental protection.”
