Hong Jun-pyo "It's time to return... I will submit the reinstatement application and follow the procedures"
Unavoidable Resignation from Party
Not an Obstacle as Chosen by the People
"I Will Submit Reinstatement Application Today"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Independent lawmaker Hong Joon-pyo officially announced his intention to rejoin the People Power Party on the 10th.
On the day, Hong held a press conference at the National Assembly and said, "I now believe it is time for me to return to the party."
He explained, "During the nomination process for the 20th general election, I was inevitably forced to leave the party temporarily," but added, "I judged that the unavoidable withdrawal from the party in the last general election is no longer an obstacle as I have been re-elected by the people's choice."
He also said, "The past year spent outside the party has been a time of deep reflection on my political journey and shortcomings," and "I intend to follow the re-entry procedures by submitting a rejoining application and undergoing review according to the party's constitution and regulations."
He continued, "I want to return to the party, faithfully fulfill my responsibilities and duties as a party member, and become a grain of wheat to restore the broken national administration and normalize the country."
