On the 9th, the Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 8 (Presiding Judge Sangsoo Park) sentenced A (20), who was indicted on charges of special assault, to six months in prison with one year of probation.
The court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "Considering the method of assault and the use of a weapon, the nature of the crime is serious and the fact that the victim did not reach a settlement is unfavorable. However, it appears that the defendant committed the crime impulsively, and as a young university student, with his parents and relatives petitioning for leniency, these factors were taken into account."
A was brought to trial on charges of threatening B by hitting B's vehicle with a golf club around 12:20 p.m. on October 30 last year on a road in Buk-gu, Gwangju.
It was investigated that A became angry because B's car cut in front of his vehicle, shouted insults, chased the car for about 300 meters, and then committed the crime.
Meanwhile, drivers who lose their temper while driving and threaten other drivers continue to appear.
On June 7 last year in Gongju, Chungnam, a man in his 30s became angry because another driver flashed high beams at him and threatened the other driver with a baseball bat. He was fined 6 million won for special intimidation.
