Yongsan-gu '4th Disaster Relief Fund' Temporary Livelihood Support of 500,000 Won per Household
One-time cash payment of 500,000 KRW per household for low-income households with income reduction... Online registration from May 10 to 28, offline registration from May 17 to June 4
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Changhyun) is launching temporary livelihood support for low-income households with decreased income as part of the government's 4th disaster relief fund policy.
The support targets vulnerable groups experiencing difficulties in daily life due to household income reduction compared to 2019 and 2020, with a support amount of 500,000 KRW per household (one-time).
Applicants must meet both income criteria of 75% of median income (1-person household 1,370,873 KRW, 2-person household 2,316,059 KRW, 3-person household 2,987,963 KRW, 4-person household 3,657,218 KRW) or less, and property criteria of 600 million KRW or less.
Recipients of Basic Livelihood Security (livelihood benefits), Emergency Welfare (livelihood support), and other COVID-19 damage support programs (emergency employment security support, livelihood support for visiting care workers, etc.) are not eligible for duplicate support.
Residents wishing to apply can do so directly on the ‘Bokjiro’ website from May 10 to 28. They must attach proof of income reduction (such as withholding tax receipts, health insurance qualification certificates, credit card sales confirmations, business closure reports, transaction statements, bank transaction records, etc.) and apply according to the last digit of the head of household’s birth year in an odd-even system.
In-person applications are also possible. The head of household, household members of the same household, or legal representatives can visit the local community service center from May 17 to June 4. Proof of income reduction, a copy of the bankbook, and identification are required.
Afterward, the district will conduct income and property investigations to determine recipients and plans to complete the payment of support funds by July. The support funds will be paid in cash to the applicant’s bank account.
A district official stated, “We have simplified the documents required to prove income reduction as much as possible and allow various proof documents such as bankbook copies and transaction records besides official documents,” adding, “We will minimize the burden of proof on residents.”
To ensure smooth implementation of the project, last month the district formed a ‘Temporary Livelihood Support Task Force (TF)’ led by Deputy Mayor Yoo Seungjae. The TF is divided into a general promotion team (4 members), online reception team (12 members), investigation team (10 members), and payment team (3 members). The district also newly hired 20 temporary workers to assist.
