[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] A high school in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, where a COVID-19 cluster infection occurred, will conduct remote classes for all students on the 6th.
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced that after discussions with quarantine authorities on the morning of the day, it decided to conduct remote classes for all 964 students of A High School.
So far, 14 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported at A High School, including one third-year (Grade 12) exam student.
After the index patient, a first-year student at A High School, was confirmed positive the previous day, additional testing of all students revealed 13 more positive cases.
The quarantine authorities believe the index patient was infected by a family member, but the initial source of infection has not yet been identified.
The Office of Education and quarantine authorities plan to classify and impose self-quarantine measures on the 13 newly added close contacts overnight.
