Seoul City Reports 219 COVID-19 Cases by 6 PM... 9 Fewer Than a Week Ago
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that 219 new COVID-19 cases were reported over an 18-hour period from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 4th.
This is 70 more cases compared to the same time frame the previous day (149 cases) and 9 fewer than one week ago (228 cases on the 27th of last month). The total number of cases for the entire day was 184 on the 3rd and 257 on the 27th of last month. Among the new cases on the 4th, 4 were imported from overseas, and the remaining 215 were domestic infections.
Regarding cluster infections, new cases included 3 from a metropolitan area acquaintance gathering (the second case in April), 2 each from a restaurant in Dongdaemun-gu, a singing practice room in Gangbuk-gu, and a workplace in Gangnam-gu (the fifth case in April), 1 from a PC bang in Gangnam-gu, and 19 from other cluster infections. Among new cases not managed as cluster infections, there were 95 cases from contact with other confirmed patients, 19 from contact with confirmed patients outside Seoul, and 76 cases with infection routes under investigation.
As of 6 p.m. on the 4th, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Seoul stands at 38,744. The total number of cases for the day will be compiled as of midnight on the 5th and announced in the morning.

Meanwhile, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters sent emergency disaster text messages across the metropolitan area, urging people who visited the fresh supermarket in the basement level 1 food hall of the Lotte Department Store main branch in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, from April 25 to May 2 to get tested for COVID-19 at a nearby public health center. This was due to the identification of confirmed patients' movement paths.
