Kim Seonghwan Appointed as MBC Director and CEO of MBCNET
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Kim Seonghwan, Director of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) (age 59), was appointed as CEO at the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of MBCNET Co., Ltd. held on the 30th.
Selected through an open recruitment process, he joined MBC News Department in 1995 and has served as News Department Manager (ND Editing Manager, etc.), Election Planning Team Leader, and Policy Special Advisor Director. During his tenure as Policy Special Advisor, he contributed to resolving broadcasting policy issues such as mid-roll advertising, license renewal, and UHD deregulation promotion, as well as supporting special innovation projects including inter-Korean peace content and media commerce.
MBCNET was selected as the only 'public interest channel' in the regional category by the Korea Communications Commission for 2021-2022, consecutively for two years, as a 'regional specialized channel.' It broadcasts programs produced independently by 16 regional MBC stations nationwide 24 hours a day via satellite, cable, and IPTV.
