Assemblyman Jang Jaeseong's Ordinance to Prevent Poor Construction of Educational Facilities Passes Standing Committee
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The "Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education Construction Work Defect Prevention Ordinance," proposed by Jang Jae-seong, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council (Democratic Party, Seo-gu 1), passed the review at the Education and Culture Committee on the 4th.
The proposed ordinance includes key provisions such as ▲defect prevention policies for construction work ▲reporting and receiving defect construction cases ▲protection of whistleblowers ▲establishment of a Defect Construction Prevention Committee.
Councilor Jang Jae-seong stated, "This ordinance was proposed to ensure the appropriateness of various construction works carried out in school education sites and to regulate necessary matters for the quality and safety of construction work, thereby preventing defective construction and establishing a safe educational environment."
He added, "Since construction works by the Office of Education, such as school repair works, are directly related to guaranteeing students' right to learn and safety, thorough measures must be taken to prevent defective construction and safety accidents."
