KHNP to Promote 200MW Solar Power Project in Miam-myeon, Yeongam
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced on the 4th that it has signed a 'Joint Development Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a 200MW Onshore Solar Power Facility in Mia-myeon, Yeongam-gun' with the Mia Solar Power Residents Promotion Committee and Pacifico Energy.
The signing ceremony held at the Yeongam-gun Mia Activation Center was attended by related parties including Park Jeonghwan, Vice Chairman of the Mia Solar Power Residents Promotion Committee, residents of Mia-myeon, Bae Yangho, Director of KHNP's New Renewable Energy Business Division, and Cho Dongwook, CEO of Pacifico Energy Korea Corporation.
This project is a resident-participatory solar power generation business to construct 200MW of onshore solar power in the Mia-myeon area. In this project, with a total budget of 293.9 billion KRW, KHNP will be responsible for overall project management and operation & maintenance, while Pacifico Energy will oversee overall project management, site leasing, and financing. The Mia Solar Power Residents Promotion Committee, established through voluntary participation of residents, will handle support for permits and approvals. In the future, a residents' cooperative will be established to participate in a bond-type manner and share the benefits of resident participation with local residents.

Bae Yangho, Director of KHNP's New Renewable Energy Business Division, stated, "KHNP will closely communicate with residents to create a resident-centered solar power plant," adding, "We will play a leading role in regional economic growth by increasing local residents' income and creating new jobs through the power plant."
