[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Miryang City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 3rd that it has been selected for the ‘2021 Hanbok Culture Regional Hub Support Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and will begin developing tourism content based on Hanbok.
This contest was implemented to discover hubs for revitalizing regional Hanbok culture and to spread the culture of regularly wearing Hanbok.
With a budget of up to 300 million KRW, including 150 million KRW in national funds received through the project selection, the city plans to develop tourism content linked to the region’s unique cultural assets under the concept of ‘Miryang, Hanbok Love Song: An Invitation to That Beauty’ by November.
The project consists of a total of 16 programs, including 10 face-to-face projects and 6 non-face-to-face projects.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, non-face-to-face programs such as exhibitions and promotions will be strengthened, and for face-to-face projects, a dedicated internal quarantine team will be formed to proceed under thorough quarantine measures.
In particular, Mirimidunguk, the hub location, is expected to play a central role in city area tourism by offering experiences of traditional clothing linked to major local tourist resources such as Yeongnamru, Uiryeol Theme Street, and Miryang Hyanggyo, combined with crafts like Gyubang embroidery.
