At the new prosecutors' commissioning ceremony held at the Government Complex Gwacheon on the morning of the 3rd, Minister Park stated, "We must strengthen the role of judicial controllers and respond firmly without hesitation to illegal investigations and wrongful or excessive law enforcement."
Minister Park, who recently watched the movie "Asset," quoted Jeong Yak-jeon's line from the film, "Questions are study itself. Rote memorization has ruined this country," emphasizing, "The role of the prosecution must also change. It is time to boldly question the rote prosecution and the prosecution role fossilized in the media."
He also conveyed that the definition of justice should not differ inside and outside the prosecution office walls. Minister Park said, "We need a justice of coexistence. Justice that all members of our society can empathize with and accept," adding, "Only then can sustainable justice take root in this land."
He revealed a favorable stance toward prosecutors in the criminal and trial divisions. "Prosecutors in the criminal and trial divisions have not received as much attention as those who score goals," he said, "But it is because of them that the prosecution is maintained and proper law enforcement is possible." He continued, "We should no longer regard them as invisible heroes," and urged, "Let us create an atmosphere where they are recognized and noticed as much as they work hard and dedicate themselves."
Additionally, he emphasized the role as a protector of human rights. Minister Park stated, "Human rights are the most noble value that our society must protect together," and added, "The law must be a warm hand that wipes the tears of the weak and a strong fence that protects the powerless."
