Chairman Jo Jaehee: "Expanding high-tech courses for college graduate job seekers"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] So-young Jeong, who majored in International Business in the UK; Hyun-jung Jeong, who majored in International Economics and Trade at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in China; and Haemyung Jeong, a graduate who majored in Psychology and Statistics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), enrolled at the Polytech Bundang Convergence Technology Education Center last March. They aim to increase their value by studying programming, software, big data, and more.
With high interest in quality information technology (IT) jobs, commonly referred to as "Nekarakube" (Naver, Kakao, Line Plus, Coupang, Baedal Minjok), Polytech announced on the 3rd that it will recruit 22 cloud expert trainees by the 10th. Classes will be held at the Bundang Convergence Technology Education Center, Polytech’s digital new technology education facility. The recent three-year average employment rate for the Data Convergence Software (SW) department, which So-young and Hyun-jung enrolled in, is 92.1%, with an admission competition rate of 4.35 to 1.
A distinctive feature is the curriculum designed to enable non-majors, such as those from humanities backgrounds, to become software developers. It is tailored to the field, ranging from basic programming to corporate project practice. Only essential subjects for cloud computing are selected and taught intensively over just three months. This short-term intensive training is designed so companies can hire trainees immediately. On the 27th of last month, the education center signed an industry-academia partnership (MOU) with cloud service companies Megazone Cloud and Zenith & Company, and under this agreement, outstanding trainees will be hired directly.
Hong Pil-du, head of the education center’s academic affairs, said, "When the trainees’ diverse majors combine with IT, creative outcomes will pour out." Lee Joo-wan, CEO of Megazone Cloud, said, "To cultivate professional AI cloud talent, close cooperation between companies and educational institutions is urgently needed, which is why we partnered with Polytech."
