On the afternoon of the 2nd, Namhaein, a judge at the Incheon District Court, held a pre-arrest detention hearing for A (27), who is under investigation for murder and corpse abandonment, and issued an arrest warrant citing "risk of flight."
Earlier that day, around 1:45 p.m., A, wearing a mask and hat and handcuffed, got off a police van and entered the Incheon District Court where the detention hearing was held.
He did not respond to reporters' questions such as whether he had a bad relationship with his sister or why he attended her funeral. He also remained silent when asked if he intended to surrender or if he had any words for his deceased sister and parents.
A is accused of stabbing his 30-year-old older sister B multiple times with a weapon at their home in an apartment in Namdong-gu, Incheon, last December, and of repeatedly using B’s KakaoTalk account and mobile banking illegally.
He is also suspected of leaving B’s body on the apartment rooftop for 10 days before moving it to a rental car and dumping it in an agricultural waterway in Seokmodo, Samsan-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, around the end of December last year. B’s body was discovered by nearby residents on the 21st, four months after being abandoned.
During police questioning, he stated that "(On the day of the crime) I came home after work at dawn, and my sister nagged me for coming home late, so we argued, and in a fit of rage, I killed her with a weapon," indicating it was an impulsive act. Regarding why he disposed of the body in the waterway and the details of the crime, he said, "I thought there would be no people around because it was winter, and I had relatives living in that area, so I had a connection there," adding, "I didn’t realize I stabbed her so severely."
Meanwhile, the Incheon Police Agency’s special investigation team announced that they plan to add charges against A for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection and for computer-related fraud.
It was confirmed that after the crime, he inserted B’s mobile phone USIM (Subscriber Identity Module) into another device and used it. A accessed his sister’s KakaoTalk account and fabricated messages exchanged between them to show their parents, which led to the cancellation of a missing person report. The mother had filed a missing person report on February 14th, stating B had not returned home, but withdrew the report on the 1st of last month.
