Jeju Fire Station Designates 'Namseong Village' as a Fire-Free Safe Village
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Fire Station announced on the 2nd that on the 30th of last month, ‘Namseong Village’ (Samdo 2-dong) was selected as a ‘Fire-Free Safe Village’ and held a designation ceremony, and will establish a public-private safety management cooperation system in the future.
The ‘Fire-Free Safe Village’ initiative was promoted to provide balanced fire services by selecting villages in rural and island areas or those located far from fire stations, which are vulnerable to fire outbreaks.
Namseong Village, designated as a Fire-Free Safe Village, will have residential fire safety facilities distributed and installed in all households in connection with the ‘119 Public Safety Practice Day’ going forward.
In addition, housing safety inspections for fire prevention and basic health checks for the elderly will be conducted.
Kim Youngho, head of Jeju Fire Station, said, “Through the designation of Fire-Free Safe Villages, we will do our best to establish a public-private safety management cooperation system and eliminate blind spots vulnerable to fire.”

Meanwhile, Jeju Fire Station has been designating and operating Fire-Free Safe Villages since 2011, and so far has provided fire safety services to 20 villages and 4,463 households.
